Growing up in foster care, Shaheed rarely experienced parental love or tenderness. Now, as he became a father for the first time, he is discovering emotions previously unknown to him—profound, unconditional love for his daughter and an instinctive desire to shield her from life's dangers. As he describes it, “I found within me a tenderness that I never knew was there or even possible." You are my Father - Shaheed & Nakhiya 2021 ISOuth Africa

His name has its root in the word "Shahid", which means martyr.

In Arabic the root of these two words means "to see"! Do you know why the word "Shahid" (martyr) should be rooted in "seeing"? It is because a martyr can "see" the truth!
