I remember when multiple alt clients experimented with permissionless channels, per the FIPs enshrined in protocol. Warpcast politely ignored those channels, then added their own payment gate on top.

Similar with permissionless accounts: perfectly visible across protocol but still(?) impossible to onboard to Warpcast
