Whenever I get a new computer, I treat it like a pristine temple... only downloading the highest quality apps, clearing the downloads folder, following an immaculate directory system, etc. Within two weeks, it degrades into one of those chaotic monkey temples

Same, but doubly so if I have to set up a Windows box, because I know of all the unwanted cruft that seeps into the registry and obscure system directories. I can never trust that I’ll fully be able to remove anything after I’ve installed it. And, installing anything on Win 11 these days feels like playing the Russian roulette of BSOD and system instability, which can only ever be undone with a clean OS reinstall. That calls for parsimonious and intentional downloads
