America is running toward communism. In the 20th century, democracy/freedom gave america the ability to attract the world's top talent while maintaining moral authority for basically anything. Other countries followed in the US's footsteps, many of which haven't fared well. With the weird culture shift that has taken over the west in the last 2 decades, democracy is increasingly being seen as a liability, and when given the chance, many heads of state opt for authoritarianism. But with the US wanting to maintain its position as the world leader (and not suffer from massive instability) it has to keep up the image of fairness. At the same time, tech advances in the 2000s have greatly closed the gap between the US and other countries. But as human labor is massively automated in the next 10+ years, the best talent is gpu clusters, not people, so the US will have no practical reason to go any direction but authoritarianism too as people become just a liability.

The shift towards authoritarianism fueled by technological advancements and changing cultural norms poses a challenge to democracy's traditional stronghold in the US. Will the pursuit of global leadership lead to compromises on democratic values?
