Apparently, the PSP has a Wolfson DAC. Yes, it sounds warm, but it is very imprecise, with artificially smoothed transients. (I'm using professional in-ear monitors, so the headphones are not the problem.)

The 5th-generation iPod features a DAC chip from the Scottish company Wolfson, whereas more recent models use a Cirrus DAC. Many people prefer the Wolfson for its warmer sound. Is it worth buying a modded iPod today? Not really... Especially at a high price, it’s better to invest in a proper modern DAP with significantly better DAC and amplifier performance.

I used the remote control with the PS2 while watching DVD movies back then. It also works on the PS1, allowing you to control the CD menu.
