@kaufman brings us, "Amazon’s Climate Fund director explains the company’s strategy with investing in next-generation nuclear developer X-energy. Amazon is hoping its partnership with X-energy will deploy as much as 5 GW of SMR capacity by 2039. That first project in Washington state will be 320 megawatts initially, with plans to ultimately scale it to 960 MW." What are your thoughts on this data center power approach?

Clean energy is great. But it’s not going to solve the problem if it doesn’t also entail removing fossil fuels from the energy mix, which at least in the last 20 years does not appear to be happening. Which is what you’d expect from a growing economy with technological revolutions (AI, POW crypto) that demand immense amounts of energy. The energy transition is already a gargantuan task on a very tight timeframe. Expecting it to not only replace all existing energy demand but all new energy demand as well in 10-20 years is.. optimistic.
