Ryoko Kamimura bathes her daughter Tomoko Kamimura, who suffers from Minamata disease caused by mercury poisoning. 📍 Minamata, Kyushu, Japan, December 1971. This famous picture, taken by American photographer Eugene Smith, became a symbol of the environmental disaster of Minamata disease - severe methylmercury poisoning caused by industrial discharges into the water. Minamata’s disease, identified in the 1950s, was the result of toxic contamination that caused neurological disorders, paralysis and congenital deformities in hundreds of people, including small Tomoko Kamimura.

Swedish sailor Carl Emil Pettersson with his family, 1918. In 1904, Pettersson was shipwrecked off the coast of Tabar Island in German New Guinea. He was saved by the locals, and soon he married Princess Singdo, the daughter of the tribal leader. After the death of his father-in-law, Pettersson became the ruler of the island, and Western newspapers dubbed him “King Tabar”. He founded a coconut plantation, got rich in the production of copra and lived on the island for many years, becoming part of the local society.

📍Adam’s Peak is the highest point of Sri Lanka. There is a believing that if u was on Sri Lanka but haven’t visited Adam’s Peak - u are a fool. But if u was more than ones and visited Adam’s Peak more than ones u are a fool too 😂😂😂 Amazing one time experience for me! 2,5 hours of night climbing!
