A couple of thoughts on how to improve boosts. 1/4. Users getting a boost should be warned in advance - otherwise they’re either risking missing out on the benefits of the boost or giving up other activities. In other words, boosts highjack your plans. Mine was dropped on me in the middle of a work day (and week) - the absolute worst timing possible ⬇️

2/4. Like @ted noted on /manysuchcases , 24 hour boosts urge users to overcast, which we’ve already seen with cast number bets on @pearl . I really didn’t have physical time to generate good content. To compensate, I wanted to showcase underrated accounts but the recasts overflooded the feed. Idk about my audience but I personally was overwhelmed with the number of casts I shared with the world that day ⬇️

3/4. With 1 and 2 in mind, boosts would be the most effective if we could boost particular casts instead of ouselves/our accounts. The number of casts could be limited - let’s say 10 or 5. Users would actually be able to showcase meaningful casts (as in nobody but my very few followers needs to know about my peacock trauma). ⬇️

4/4. Bonus points if boosts weren’t limited in time. Ex.: promotions of non-profit causes/events when it’s the best time for that. Even more bonus points for an opp to boost other users’ casts without recasting/quote casting (ex. via a cast action) Don’t get me wrong - it was a fun albeit a draining experience and I’m grateful that I got my chance. I think it’s a cool idea but it needs a lot of polishing to actually help smaller accounts to get more visibility.

I got my boost the very first day they were doing them. It was also the first day of fall semester, and I've got a 17 credit load this semester, so I was juggling getting all my study plans set up, while also trying to take advantage of the boost. Being able to plan out what I wanted to cast about ahead of time would have been *so* helpful.

Good ideas. They could also give you the time to get that one cast together that you have been meaning to post for a while. Would be an improvement for the whole network.

Was thinking about this the other day, what if I'm not active during that day? It would be a wasted boost. Do I need to prepare some bangers and have them ready for when the time comes? 🤔

I completely agree with your opinion on boosts! The 24-hour limited boost time makes us feel like workers or soldiers assigned a mission we must complete, leaving little room for deep thought, creativity, or innovative content. While it was a fun experience in some ways, if this continues, we’ll end up like workers trapped in cages, experiencing painful labor, stuck with our phones for 24 hours straight!
