Pretty sure that’s the one thing he said you’re *not* entitled to by joining fc lol

i mean like from my perspective for example brian left for a year and still outranks me as an influencer here? it’s stupid and demotivating imo

the most effective way of giving people distribution was via the autofollow list, which has been discontinued. if you look at big accounts like brian's they aren't growing at all now that autofollow is gone dwr shoutouts are good for an engagement bump on a post but idk how much it does beyond that tbh

good point, i haven’t been actively checking or growing either. i think autofollow list stagnation would be its own problem for a few reasons but primarily those people for the last ~1000 days have continued to dominate and control the network + made friendships with each other so them interacting just turns into me owing them my attention which i don’t want to do i agree on dwr shoutouts being good and think the power influencers should be doing that far more. if a persons skill is talking or KOL then gas the builders up here and create a story around them i complained a lot about that list for what i feel was good reasons but the cost was social ostracizing

i also complained a lot about the autofollow list despite being a huge beneficiary of it although it feels like 99% of the users from the autofollow period have churned. now there are a bunch of smaller accounts that joined post-autofollow with a fraction of the total following of big pre-autofollow accounts but who actually have significantly more active followers but going back to your original post - the conversion rate for giving distribution to a product that anyone can use (e.g. a frame or bot) is pretty much always going to be higher than for a dev tool or github repo with no real call to action
