Building in consumer:

Sets the default experience to not have bots
Turns off the experience to not have bots
What are you going to do about the bots?

This is called conflict of interest. When every bot is paying you $5 a year, you are definitely not going to get rid of them.

Don't blame the "consumer". Filtering out every single new user by default is just dumb. It makes it almost impossible for new users without a social circle already on FC to start out.

In my opinion, these bot attacks are pretty short-sighted- if bots are all that was coming in, then people like me would leave eventually. 

Best case is 10 or 20% less bots? 50% less users I never see? It's not a huge priority and 500k users isn't a lot to begin with

I said something similar about follower counts on /gmfarcaster last week. 

Way more important to me than my follower count is how I feel when I use the app (aka user experience). Am I discovering interesting content? Am I learning something new? Am I engaging with thoughtful people? That’s all that matters to me now
