Just start doing problems with known solutions. Don’t read the textbook to start. 

The goal is to fail fast, like integration testing for your mind. Like computer adaptive testing.

Only once you start getting problems wrong, then go & read that section of the textbook. You’ll appreciate the subtleties much more.
