What is shabu-shabu? Shabu-shabu is a Japanese dish where very thinly sliced beef is cooked in a traditional hot-pot full of boiling broth.The meat is cooked by gently dipping and waving it around in the broth with chopsticks. The beef is so thin you can almost see through it, so it cooks quickly.

Nijo Castle was built by Ieyasu Tokugawa in 1603, but the entire precincts were completed in 1625. The palace functioned as a second home for the Tokugawa shogun who stayed here when he visited Kyoto.

“Awa-Odori”, the one of the most famous “Bon-Odori”, originated in Tokushima prefecture and has the 400-year history. A lot of dance groups which is called “Ren” parade around town to the rhythm of drums and sounds of bamboo flutes during Awa-Odori festival which is held throughout Tokushima prefecture.

The Nebuta Festival brings a lively and dramatic atmosphere to the streets of Aomori from August 2 to 7 each year. This festival is a fusion of ancient Chinese traditions and local customs, in which floats carrying large lanterns called “nebuta” are paraded through the streets accompanied by “haneto” (dancers).
