I have an older phone but with 256GB storage. Imma use that android phone and get this Audio Quest Dragonfly dac/amp https://www.audioquest.com/dacs/dragonfly/dragonfly-red Probably the cobalt since I'm saving money other places. Bonus I can use it on my laptop too. 2/2

I didn't really want to spend more than $500. I researched the latest Sony walkman at $3XX but reviews were buggy. Even the Astel Kernel? Had questionable software for reliability. Fiio seems OK . I think the best bet is either get a rockbox iPod with a SSD for like $300 off eBay or 1/2

Don't forget about high quality music! Would a disappointed experience to listen to average crap music with good quality headphones.

Cannot recommend Shure SE846 It has boosted bass, would better the SE215 is more balanced. Consumer IEM Fiio F9 Pro is good. Many professional or even a lot of consumer IEMs are tuned for a specific instrument / tuned for more bass than neutral or V shaped.

For DAP I would recommend iBasso DX170 or if you have higher budget Astell & Kern SR35. About IEMs must be sure they can delivery a balanced sound, as much possible neutral across all frequencies.

If you really care about audio get high quality open back over ears like senheiser hd650. Physically impossible for in ears to be high quality.
