After my lasted post, I'll share why 10 years ago I went viral for the wrong reasons.

I don’t love bringing this back, but here’s why I am:

Because that moment taught me a lot about storytelling.

And in the end, it’s all the same story: using the internet to change how the world is built.

In 2015, I was heading to a Marketing class when a group of construction workers catcalled me and tried to grab me.

I used pepper spray to get away.

I went to the police. They said since “nothing happened,” they couldn’t help.

So I recorded a one-shot video and posted it on Facebook and YouTube

Suddenly, I was on every screen in Argentina — and then the world:

What came next?

I spoke on national TV.

I worked on two laws that were written and passed in Argentina after what happened.

Here’s what I learned about storytelling:

— Make it bigger than you

— It wasn’t “this happened to me.” It was: this happens all the time, to all of us.

— The story connected because it named something collective — not just personal.

Make people feel

— The video didn’t go viral because it was shocking.

— It spread because it triggered anger, fear, empathy, urgency.

— People don’t share information. They share emotion.

Go where you’re not expected

—I didn’t just speak to people who already agreed with me.

— I went on shows that challenged me.

— The story spread because it crossed lines — not because it stayed in safe circles.

Give people something to do

— The video had a clear outcome: we need a law.

— And it happened.

— A story that moves people emotionally and tells them what to do next? That’s what creates real change.

If you’ve ever felt like your story doesn’t matter: it does.

— If you’ve been scared to speak up, I get it.

—  People don’t connect with ideas.

— They connect with faces, with voices, with other people.

— One honest story can change more than your life.
