An assassination attempt was made on the former President of the United States.

On July 13, during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania, Donald Trump was shot. The politician was injured, one rally attendee was killed, and two others were seriously wounded.

The rally took place in the small town of Butler. The shooter positioned himself on a rooftop 130 meters from the stage, outside the security zone. An AR-type rifle was found at the shooting site. This attack was officially recognized as an assassination attempt.

The assailant was killed during the apprehension attempt. He was later identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks from Pennsylvania. According to the FBI, he had no ties to foreign intelligence agencies, including those hostile to America.

This was the first public shooting against a high-ranking American politician in over 40 years, since John Hinckley Jr.'s attempt on Ronald Reagan in 1981.

Trump was quickly evacuated from the rally and sustained a minor ear injury.
