Chinese paper-cutting is one of the oldest folk arts in China. Some people believe that the predecessor of paper-cutting can be traced back to the custom of women in the Han and Tang Dynasties using gold and silver foil to cut square shapes and paste them on their temples as decorations. The paper-cuts affixed to the windows are also called window grilles. Early paper-cutting was mostly seen in funerals, sacrifices and other ceremonies, and was probably related to Taoist spiritual mediums. For example, in Du Fu's "Peng Ya Xing", there is a clear record of "warm soup washes my feet, paper-cutting calls to my soul".

Shu embroidery, also known as "Sichuan embroidery", is one of the four famous embroidery styles in China, along with Su embroidery, Xiang embroidery, and Yue embroidery. It is a traditional Chinese craft that uses silk threads to embroider patterns on silk or other fabrics. As one of the oldest embroidery styles in China, Shu embroidery has formed its own unique charm with its bright and delicate colors and exquisite needlework, ranking first among the four famous embroidery styles in terms of richness.
