Alongside preservation, a curator’s job is to interpret the meaning behind the objects in the collection. Every object has a story—whether it’s an ancient relic from a forgotten civilization or a contemporary painting that challenges the social norms of its time. The challenge is to help visitors see these objects in context, to explain their historical significance, and to connect them with broader themes. A great exhibition is not just about displaying objects; it’s about creating a narrative that invites people to explore, question, and learn.

In addition to organizing exhibitions, I am involved in the acquisition and deaccessioning of items. Acquiring new artifacts often involves navigating complex negotiations and ensuring that the items fit within the museum’s mission and collection strategy. Deaccessioning, on the other hand, requires careful consideration to ensure that items are either returned to their original source, donated to other institutions, or sold in a manner that benefits the museum.
