ever wonder why every athlete post-competition interview sounds the same? media training is real and it made me so scared to be myself at world youth championships in 2015 we were told who to thank and what not to say in interviews we had our facebook post screenshots shared on the screen to show how easy it was to find what we are writing online it was almost drilled into us that once we become an athlete we take up a new spotless identity i am still on a journey of unlearning this but being onchain has given me freedom it's refreshing to not have to pander to governing bodies and/or sponsors to make an income and warpcast seems like the best place for me to start sharing more of my stories and hopefully shed light on the good, bad and ugly realities of being a sportsperson! lmk if you have any thoughts/questions

this is a bummer to hear but i think we can change this with spaces like warpcast. people should be owning who they truly are and being proud of it - spotless run of the mill personalities aren't genuine and we all know people aren't truly just being themselves. excited to see you and many others start posting genuinely! are many other athletes you meet as excited about crypto as you? how do we onboard? how can we help use higher and higher athletics best as a vehicle to onboard atheletes?

So much pressure. I’m always in awe of athletes talking to media no more than 30 seconds post-race, still catching their breath. Hopefully the landscape is changing and athletes feel more comfortable being their authentic selves, particularly in track and field - it’s just so much more interesting and fun to watch as a fan when you have a grasp on an athlete’s story and distinct personality.

it sounds like a very cold and calculated system they taught you. i'm happy you are finding the freedom to rework that system and explore parts of yourself that it was limiting. you found this place at a great time. it's still a small, fairly accountable village where people are largely positive and encouraging of each other. it's a great place to try new things 😊

It's a shame because expressing yourself as yourself is what supporters want in a comment. Thanks for the interesting behind-the-scenes story. 300 $farther

thank you for sharing. it's a shame that they're stunting creativity and authenticity. i think if athletes were able to be themselves on post game interviews, it would inspire a lot more younger athletes and help them relate to their idols. i'm glad we're able to see the problem in it and how being onchain can hopefully bring that authenticity back.

I just saw how an athlete thanked God and mentioned Jesus and it got completely changed as she never said those things so I believe media training a whole lot 2000 $FARTHER

I was hoping that crypto could be exactly that (be yourself) in general, but hearing all the disturbing things, once people out themselves as women has me doubting my idealistic version of crypto.

How do people normally manage their id? Do they typically keep some anon account where only close friends know about where they can be themselves for example?

I'm glad you've found a place to express yourself the way that feels best! I understand the caution on social media and how perception impacts a person's message. I'm always impressed by athlete interviews and how you all know the right thing to say. A few themes I noticed: be gracious to the competition, shout-out your team members, don't take too much credit, don't speak too far ahead about what will happen in future match ups. I wonder why the media immediately pounces on people after the event? Can folks get a moment! 😅

It’s the same in classical music world haha. I’m always laughing on post in facebook that start with “I’m so proud to announce” or “it was such a privilege to participate bla bla bla bla”

I always notice how unnatural the interviews sound. Didnt realise the censoring of athletes was that bad though. I hope you can be yourself both online and in the sporting arenas 500 $degen
