Anyone sit on a board of a nonprofit and care to share any thoughts on upside / downside?

Understood! One non-obvious thing I heard from someone else is non-profit board seats often come with fundraising requirements - i.e. you have to commit to raising a certain amount, whether from outside donors or you own pocket.

Yes! I made the mistake of getting on a board that had pretty intense requirements I was not prepared for... good call.
