Warpcast will remove "likely to be spam" accounts from follow counts soon. 

Likes and recasts from spammy accounts have been removed from counts for several weeks. We're now going to remove follow counts from these accounts as well.

Who needs to hear this? Follower counts aren’t your worth. 💜💜

I didn’t celebrate follower counts on the way up, I won’t bemoan them on the way down.

Haha though I think they used to discount for likely spammy accounts anyway

And in fact, lowering your count will help your net worth as you will be improve your position in Rewards.

I think more than anyone, people with low follower counts who have just joined will be the happiest about this.
I’m also super excited to see what the result will be.

For myself, I’m here on fc for the quality of engagement and the depth of understanding that I’ve noticed lacking on other platforms, not for any particular social metric (follows)

It would be a good exercise to see that those obtained from the autofollow list would also be removed, thus it would be a much more honest number of followers that each profile would have.
