Travel is amazing and doesn't have to be about external status validation! But a lot of people travel for that reason. :)

Why be sad tho? If that dynamic wouldn’t exist, millions of ppl (esp. in low income countries) wouldn’t be able to feed their families.

Yes, I do! Though there’s still a whiff of sad/ick mixed in there. Probs the fact that I wish that dynamic wasn’t needed. But tbf, giving work is better than charity for the honour and human value it affords to the transfer of money. A generous tip can be a shrewd blessing.
