I’ve been seeing so many variations of “nothing is real” on my timeline recently. Some of it is earnest, like recognizing how your thoughts control your actions but your thoughts aren’t you (not real) so you can ignore them Some of it is playful, like what if we are in an AI simulation As individual comments there is nothing wrong with them. Taken together, there is some deep sadness to thinking nothing is real. This one precious life we have on earth is real. Love is real. Laughter is real. Each breath that fills our bodies with oxygen is real. Whatever you are feeling right now is real.

when you hear stories about the beginnings of the internet, early social platforms, multiplayer games, etc, you hear about how often the digital world is just as real if not more real to many. have experienced this myself. it's strange to witness and feel that changing. there's a tension between wanting to change that and wanting to escape it. technology is inevitable, so escaping it doesn't truly feel like an option. idk!

This could be because people experience life nowadays through a screen so doubting is more normal. When we were kids we got injured un the park, we had to talk to real people, we could dance without someone recording it on video. We had lunch without waiting for everyone to take pictures that look perfect for your social media. We were real, new generations have lost their way in the web. They need to be present, and they are not.

Nihilism went from a Gen X joke from the Big Lebowski to a Gen Z lifestyle.

Sometimes it’s easier to say "nothing is real" than to face how overwhelmingly real everything is That said, if this is a simulation, whoever designed anxiety really needs to tone it down

Even if nothing is real, what we FEEL is real. So there’s that.

Imagine that, Truth vs partial truth vs zero truth. Then what? Beyond the air we all share, consciously and unconsciously, the dark sadness comes mostly from lack of hands on, directly into our grounds that grow and feed our life. Beneficial for understanding more of what is real. 4u 4me 4us all. 🧬🥗🍱🌮🍔

In short: cutting through the illusions of your mind is good and necessary; nihilism/solipsism, not so much.
