Hi everyone 🌻 This is my first publication about the Roots of Love project, and I'm so grateful about it! First of all, I'd like to make a brief presentation about me, so you all can understand better the dimension of what this support represents for me and my community. I'm mother of an autistic boy, and also an autistic Brazilian from the periphery, with indigenous ancestry by my mother, and this clipping already says a lot about the reality of deletion and lack of access. I've dedicated my last 16 years studying deeply about the physical, chemical and emotional human relationship with food. Specifically in the last 2 years I focused on studies about the relationship of neurodivergent brain regulation with intestinal health, and finally this project was born, that aims to provide proper food support for peripheral families who have neurodivergent children. We have a great job ahead and I greatly thank the opportunity granted by /flows and the confidence of @blessskateshop friends. You are amazing!

fascinating start. tell me more about the nuts and bolts - how many families will you reach? what specific food support will you provide? what outcomes do you hope to see?

Thanks for asking ☺️ There are several layers involved in this answer, let's do it. Brazilian peripheral families suffer a lot with the lack of access, and those who have neurodivergent children even more, which leaves a short time to think about what could be a proper feeding. Neurodivergent children tend to have food selectivity, and many suffer from malnutrition or obesity. The main idea of the project is to understand the way each child prefer their food and building a menu suitable directed by a nutritionist for then, with whole ingredients, gluten-free and plant based, which decreases inflammation of the body and improves intestinal health, increasing brain regulation and reducing the effects of comorbidities linked to neurodivergency. We'll offer them 10 meal ready per week - one for the child and one for the caregiver (we prioritize families with single mothers, who need the most). We want to be able to contemplate 10 families, improving significantly them quality of life.
