found a bunch of old phones. why and when did this color go away? feels like every home / office device for a few decades was this color and now i never see it

These telephones became popular in the 1950s and 1960s, when telephones were considered decorative home appliances. Over time, the phone changed from a variety of colors, including avocado green, harvest gold, and burnt orange of the 1970s, followed by the more subdued browns and beiges of the 1980s.
