It's interesting how it seems that the perception of product management has shifted negatively recently, while the perception of research has shifted positively both in crypto and AI.

It's usually an unnecessary abstraction layer that adds bloat and friction to an organization trying to ship. It has its uses, especially at a larger scale but the recent trend in having leaner orgs has likely shown that most can and should do away with PMs and other managerial roles.
