Building a public good is a very different game from building a regular product, and it is something that we still don't have a good mental model for. For web3 products you can have a team, investors, early users who speculate on a return, etc. For a public good it's mostly uncertainty on all fronts - but it's worth it

I studied economics so always find the use of the term ‘public goods’ in this context a bit off, but if we use the term as most do in this space, crypto / web3 is one of the places where public goods (open source tools, apps, community initiatives etc) actually get funded quite effectively and efficiently…
