A heuristic for how freedom-friendly your urbanism aesthetic is: If you draw an image of a city with your urbanism aesthetic, and then replace a random building with a McDonalds, how much worse does it become? Lunarpunk clearly beats solarpunk on this dimension.

We can also do the reverse experiment and plant a tree in your urban aesthetic and then consider the difference

In other words, there is a degree of affordance in urban design - some things seem to naturally fit better in some settings and not in others, creating a feedback loop to encourage the placement of those things that fit better. Perhaps a McDonald's would still fit but it would have to be designed to fit
