I'm increasingly convinced that a founder's only job is storytelling.

There are tons of things you need to do in order to tell a great story, but storytelling is how it all culminates.

I've heard "find great people and figure out how to pay for them" from one of my friends, but I think a lot of that can actually come from storytelling

This has more or less been true at every successful company I’ve ever worked at. The problem is when those companies reach scale and the heads of product divisions are not skilled in this area.

Storytelling is only the top of the funnel If you don’t have a good product downstream, you’re at best a bad businessperson and at worst a scammer

Storytelling effectively creates great audiences. I think so. Other things also need to be done well too.

Right? Communicating a founders vision to your average person who, in this example, knows nothing about tech or DeFi, yet still registers an emotional response from the subject is the affect of great storytellers. Some fanboy who is full send on /base already has enough knowledge or interest in the tech that even a bad storyteller might mistaking himself an idol. The storyteller who will onboard the next generation of blockchain users won’t use words like “blockchain or onboard,” nor will they mention anything like “zero knowledge, multi-sig, L2 rollup, consensus crypto dex po stake.” Why would an account holder at Chase Bank want or need to know what every technical step of a cash deposit or debit card purchase is called? Or check the atm for a certik sticker in fear of honeypot..? The next great founder will be the one with an honest story, a simple idea with an even simpler learning curve, and a product that Always works.

Finding this to be true with more and more outsiders that I speak with about our project. Taking someone from point A to B is best done in the oldest human form of communication; storytelling.
