US jobless claims fall below expectations, but hurricanes continue to have an impact. ◻️US unemployment insurance claims fell by an expected 19,000 to 241,000 in the week of October 12. Economists had expected 260,000 claims. ◼️However, there is a possibility that claims will increase in the coming weeks due to the economic impacts of Hurricanes Helene and Milton on the new market. ◻️It is expected that claims, which fell after Helene, may rise again due to the effects of Hurricane Milton. During the same period, the number of people continuing to work in unemployment insurance increased by 9,000 to 1.867 million.
