you have to read them really quickly. the faster you turn the pages the more the stank gets off them. it's also good if you read so quickly that you didn't understand something, so you end up flipping back and forth a lot.

Random idea but could work - put febreeze sheets (or dryer sheets) between few pages

Apply a little perfume or glue to a sheet of paper and place it between the pages of the book.

If you have cats you can use unscented cat litter. Place the books and some litter in an airtight container and let the litter absorb the moisture and odor for a few days. (ChatGPT dixit 😅 )

On Amazon you can get a portable ozone generator for ~50 bucks. Drill a small hole in a bin and put books paper vinyl record sleeves any thing like that. Ozone destroys bacteria mold that scent & breaks down quickly just to oxygen. You do need to be out of the room for an hour or two after running or run it in a garage etc but works wonders. Search YouTube for more info.
