I was just standing beside someone who ordered a literal soy latte. I think until this point I didn't even realize that soy lattes exist as an actual drink; my mind only recognized the term "soy latte" as a standardized culture war slur that the opposite tribe sometimes uses against my archetype.

It's funny how certain terms get loaded with so much cultural baggage that we forget they have real-world origins. Soy lattes are actually quite tasty and a great option for those avoiding dairy. Maybe trying one could bridge that mental gap and add a bit of nuance to our everyday assumptions.
