I've had two moments where the affect of my ADHD has made me truly sad.

The first time I had a cold after realising I had ADHD, I worked that day and took cold and flu tablets containing pseudoephedrine, to help through the day.

I was far more productive and focused, more than any other day in memory.

The second time was just recently while recovering from surgery. I was on Palexia for pain relief and was getting decent sleep for once.

Weaning off Palexia has put my head back into full throttle at night. Just redlining in neutral every night. Again, I feel robbed.

Sleep is the enemy again and there's no fix.

Don't get me wrong either, that's really the main two parts of my life that are affected negatively and I do actually like a lot of other "benefits" from my ADHD. I am well aware that things could be a lot worse and I'm doing well. 

But the things I would do to be able to focus properly and sleep...

I felt internally rewarded for achieving the things that I had been procrastinating. The motivation was on tap and I could focus on one thing. 

I searched and found it was because of the meds. I felt robbed.

The fact that other people don't deal with this and this would be "normal" really sent it home.

Same thing happened during my diagnosis. After maybe 5 minutes of questions, she said, yeah this is very obviously ADHD.

Ngl it was hard to hear that as an undiagnosed 37 year old.

I was lucky that I somehow hyperfocused the shit out of my degree - how is your wife going with study?

My wife, age 46, is finishing her 2nd yr of med school and was just diagnosed with adhd. 

The person that tested her said they could tell immediately even without going into the deeper questions and history. 

Sounds like a huge struggle tbh
