Crypto is basically one giant pvp game between the 10,000 people who are actually onchain to make money from dumping on one another atm. Good fun but this needs to change before anyone takes this industry seriously.

disagree. not that dumping on each other is good. but crypto needs to stick to its guns. the concept of abstracting away all the unique features that make it distinctive is self defeating. pvp. free markets. provenance. time travel via block explorers. self custody. permissionless. identity. its all in one package.

But to break past a certain niche level and have a wider impact, while indeed keeping true to the distinctions, it also needs to be far more accessible to non-insiders. Similar to the shift when crypto went from exchange or command line only to having easier ways to directly interact without protocol level knowledge.

whatever niche the nerds are working on today in the late hours of the night, will become mainstream eventually. "like the computer, it will never take off" https://youtu.be/F5Pa66T3zRA?feature=shared

There’s truth in that. But to parallel computers, we’re at the point of early shells, not too far past punch cards or hardware switches. The revolution in the 80s after personal computers appeared didn’t really reach the in every home point for a decade or two, and because of general education and ease of use.
