A view of the Sun with the Earth for scale... Fiery prominences composed of huge arcs of plasma dance along the solar limb, while a long, furry filament slithers its way across the 'surface'. The Sun is dynamic and alive, revealing new secrets each time we look at it. ๐Ÿงต

A memory, distant and worn, of a day on the water long ago.

gm /astrophotography family โ˜€๏ธ Which kind of solar image do you prefer? 1. 'Normal' - sunspots appear black and the image is closer to how it is seen through the eyepiece. 2. Inverted - sunspots appear white and the image has a more 3 dimensional feel.

An active region on the Sun, 20th May 2024. Equipment: Skywatcher Evostar 150, Altair ERF, UV/IR cut filter, Quark Chromosphere, tilt adaptor, ZWO ASI174MM. Seeing was horrible so I'm pretty happy with how this turned out. Looks like there was some dust on my sensor, when will I learn to take flat frames?!
