I've lived out of Airbnbs for the past 4 years some for a couple months. I rely heavily on past ratings and reviews specifically comments around noise, wifi / internet, and location if it's a long period of time. You can also ask hosts questions, usually response time is a good indicator they are on top of things

I've rented several dozen Airbnbs and have never been scammed. I only book ones with user ratings and reviews though (ideally 3+ recent ones). If you're extra concerned about this you can go with the superhosts only since those are verified by Airbnb

It is possible they can cancel last minute and you will end up booking 2-3 times more expensive place. Or photos were good, but place is full of mold. Airbnb doesn’t care about you in such situations. Happened to me before.

anything's possible. it depends how good your credit card is, though, and I've never had to use it from Airbnb but there's definitely conflict resolution help from them. again it's all about the reviews. I also recommend you use a Chase Sapphire reserve and get travel insurance.
