Think about who is driving this conversation. By and large it is not organic user feedback as it is employees The Lens marketing team is manufacturing this perceptual divide in an attempt to win net new users; punching up at the more successful service. I donβt believe it is a reflection of the reality today, but them trying to shape the future

I'm not a lens employee but can point to warpcast (as well as almost every other space in crypto) and see there aren't enough women. It was a funny joke that could apply to nearly anything in crypto. But this conversation is an example of why I don't spend a lot of time here. To me it's an echo chamber of tech and crypto. There needs to be a perpetually online version of touch grass (ie, get out of the spaces you confine yourself to) because taking this as seriously as folks are without admitting there is a severe gender imbalance is basically simping for a vc funded platform which....eh....idk. Touch some digital grass, folks.

Patti -- let's get real -- the whole crypto space is made up of 20-30% women overall. Farcaster has the same gender numbers as the rest of the space. I've met and connected with more women here than any other space in crypto including 200 discords, twitter or telegram. (that's since 2017) I realize these are friends of yours and loyalty etc -- but what I saw go down on Twitter was one women shitting on another for trying to have a real conversation in the name of trying to say that Lens is better for women, proving the point that it probably isn't based on that behavior. Seems like a waste of energy to continue this us vs them narrative when we are the minority on any crypto focused space. Decentralized social is something we all value. Really doesn't matter where that happens but it's counter productive to continue FUD-ing the other platform.

That's the point I made, I thought. There aren't enough women in crypto, period. I'd say 30% is probably generous. Maybe it's 20%, maybe. And I'm not even sure it's that. I saw MP making a joke that could apply to any platform in crypto including most discords. That's the conversation we should ALL be having. Not Farcaster versus Lens. Also for the record, I haven't posted once on Lens. Simping for any platform that should be doing more to welcome women but isn't, isn't something (to me anyway) that should be immune from criticism. At least Lens is trying, I think, I don't even know about that as I don't participate in their platform. This isn't an is Farcaster bad discussion, it's a why isn't all of crypto including Farcaster doing more to welcome women.

It was absolutely a "Farcater bad discussion" which is what they're paid for so the joke was no big deal -- and I guess it was funny if you knew the background. The BS after going directly at Erica and misconstruing what she was saying for engagement was unnecessary and just for clicks obviously. Not helpful at all in regards to bringing more women into the ecosystem. And certainly doesn't attract more women to lens (turned many off from the discussions I saw after). I saw the chuckles at the expense of another woman on twitter. That's what I take issue with. And then a whole narrative about Farcaster fragility -- yeah ok π sounds like an excuse for bad behavior. Also -- note -- the top people casting on this platform (and being rewarded for it by the FC team) are women. Plenty of room for more than one decentralized social platform -- I prefer abundance mindset here. And making sure women feel comfortable on any platform. And said all that on /gmfarcaster this morning.
