Last weekend @allam_hamdi and I set up our own Ethereum nodes.

It took 3 hours and basic consumer hardware. 

The fact that I can secure a global financial system from my laptop is batshit insane.

maybe - the primary tradeoff is that lowering the requirement would mean a much higher # of validators, which introduces problems for the network

it's possible this value could be lowered in the future, but depends on longer term research into validator roles & economics

Will some day be cheaper to run a node? 32ETH is way too much for me but would like to participate and help secure the network.
