hamcaster by /lp is the latest social-fi project. but, is it too late now? let's figure it out. so, hamcaster's proposition is simple -- leverage the insane amount of creators that have built their brand along with /lp essentially, creating utility for hamchain by tokenising creators based on farcaster social-graph. this is how hamcaster works in a nutshell: → users can create a token based on their ham score and farcaster engagement, called ‘caster tokens’ → others can buy & stake these caster tokens to earn a % of these creator’s daily ham allocation. trick is to find high allocation low followers creators and stake their token. → people can use these caster tokens (eg: 100 $314yush) to tip others directly from warpcast. → you can also lock your caster tokens to earn a % of weekly 10,000,000 $HAM distribution proportional to the value and engagement of the caster.

my thoughts: → this is a good attempt to solve for utility of a token. Now that all these creator tokens exist, in a way they are making $tn100x more valuable. → they’ve figured what works on other defi protocols and built a farcaster-esque representation of it. → value of caster token is completely based on the caster and Farcaster. It’s controlled to an extent. More so, only limited to farcaster creators (which there aren’t plenty) → for someone new to farcaster/hamchain, it’d be difficult to onboard as there is no personal journey or relatability for them to learn about the hamchain ecosystem. → it feels more like a retention play that would grow eventually w/ creators and become an acquisition play if creators succeed on farcaster. interesting to see how things pan out!
